How does laser hair removal work?

• This procedure is performed with a concentrated beam of light aimed at the hair follicle.  The light is absorbed by the pigment, which damages the follicle enough to stunt future growth.

Can I go to the beach after laser hair removal?

• Sun exposure 2-4 weeks prior to treatment and 2-4 weeks after treatment is not advised.  Sunscreen should be applied liberally when exposed to sun.

How long does laser hair removal take?

• Small areas take about 5-15 minutes.  Large areas can take 30 minutes or more depending on how big the area and how many areas being treated during the session.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

• Our laser hair removal procedure is not painful.  You feel a tolerable prickling, stinging sensation and heat at the time of laser pulsation.

How does laser hair removal affect different shades of skin?

• Our laser can be used on all skin colors and types.

Is there an age requirement for laser hair removal?

• Clients must be 18 years or above.

What are the side effects of laser hair removal?

• If performed by a trained professional, minimal side effects are expected.  This may include redness, mild swelling, and tenderness at treatment site.  These side effects should subside after a few hours.  Some skin types react unpredictably and may appear hyper-pigmented after treatment.

What is the post treatment result?

• You will see immediate results with decreased hair growth.  Continuous improvement is seen with successive treatments.

How many treatments are needed?

• We recommend 4-6 treatments, 6 treatments yielding the best results.

How much does laser hair removal cost?

• Price depends on the area being treated.  Small areas cost $49, medium areas cost $69, and large areas cost $129.

What if I have a cold sore or a herpes outbreak?

• You will need to be treated for 3 days prior and 3 days after the laser procedure.  We will prescribe the medication for you.

What are the gaps between treatments?

• We recommend waiting 6-8 weeks between treatments.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

• Laser hair removal is permanent reduction in hair follicle production.  Some hair follicles are dormant and may become active with time.

Do I need more treatments after the 6 treatments are completed?

• In 4-6 treatments, spaced about 6 weeks apart, you will see 70-80% reduction in hair growth.  For best results, we recommend a "maintenance" treatment once per year for a couple years.
